Swansea

AI consultant for Swansea businesses

AlphaOps helps Swansea businesses automate the repetitive work in their week with AI: shared inboxes, orders and documents, phone calls, meeting notes and onboarding. We’re in Cardiff, about an hour along the M4, so most of the work is done remotely and we plan visits for when being in the room really helps.

Roughly an hour along the M4Audit on Teams or on siteAlphabyte IT already works in Swansea
Remote by design

An hour away, and most of the work never needs the drive

Automation is built inside your systems, so the distance matters much less than you might expect.

The intro call, build, testing and monthly support all happen remotely, through Teams and secure access to your Microsoft 365 and business software. The audit can be on Teams too.

When it’s worth being there, such as mapping a tricky process or launching an automation to your staff, we’ll arrange a visit in advance. You pay travel expenses, nothing more.

AlphaOps belongs to Alphabyte IT, which has managed IT for businesses from its Cardiff base since 2009 and already works in Swansea. It’s a Microsoft Partner with Cyber Essentials certification.

Ross, who founded it, has worked in IT since 2000, mainly looking after legal and professional services firms. He runs every audit himself.

Swansea and the bay

A city region with a £1.28 billion investment plan

Swansea Council is one of four councils behind the Swansea Bay City Deal, alongside Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

It is a £1.28 billion programme of nine headline projects, run with Swansea University, the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and the region’s two health boards. In the city centre, the council’s new 71/72 Kingsway offices, part-funded by the City Deal, have room for up to 600 workers.

Gower became the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1956, and the council promotes it and Mumbles to visitors through Visit Swansea Bay. North of the centre, Swansea Enterprise Park at Llansamlet mixes workshops, trade units and offices, and Swansea University’s Bay Campus houses its engineering and management schools and its Computational Foundry.

What that means

Different businesses, different bottlenecks

A hotel on Gower, a trade supplier on the Enterprise Park and a city-centre accountancy practice have little in common, except hours lost to work a system could do.

  • Visitor businesses: enquiries and bookings that pile up in peak season
  • Trade and industrial firms: orders, quotes and account queries by email
  • Office-based teams: busy phones and shared mailboxes
  • Firms with clients across West Wales: hours in Teams meetings, then the write-up

The audit finds which applies to you, and what to automate first.

Cost

The same prices as in Cardiff

Distance doesn’t change the price. The audit is free (worth £290), and a standalone project gets a fixed quote, calculated at £145 + VAT an hour, that doesn’t tie you in.

Ongoing help through Monthly AI Support comes in two sizes: Essentials, four hours a month for £459 + VAT, and Growth, eight hours plus a quarterly review for £859 + VAT. Both have a 12-month minimum, and unused hours roll over. The only extra is travel if we visit. See full pricing.

Data protection

Where your information goes

Before anything is built, we show you which data each automation reads, where it’s processed and who can see the results.

The AI we build with is Anthropic’s Claude, on its business terms: customer data isn’t used for training, and a data processing agreement is in place. For work that shouldn’t go to an outside AI service at all, we’re soon bringing in AI that runs on our own hardware in Cardiff.

Questions

Working with a Cardiff team in Swansea: questions

You’re an hour away. Will we ever actually see you?

If you’d like to, yes. We can do the audit at your office and plan visits for process mapping or launch day. Most of the work is remote, though, which is why distance adds nothing beyond travel expenses.

Is a seasonal business on Gower too small for this?

Not necessarily, but be honest about volume. If you get a handful of enquiries a week, saved replies or your booking system’s own automatic responses may be enough, and we’ll tell you so. Automation pays when the same job comes round dozens of times a week.

Does the Swansea Bay City Deal pay for this kind of work?

Not usually. The City Deal funds large regional programmes, from digital infrastructure to skills, led by the four councils. For help you can apply for as a business, Swansea Council’s business support team and Business Wales know what’s open now. If a scheme does fit, we’re happy to help you apply.

We have offices in Swansea and Carmarthen. Can one set of automations cover both?

Yes. Automations run in Microsoft 365 and your business systems, not on one office’s computers, so the same one serves every site. A company knowledge assistant helps split teams most: staff in each office get the same answer from the same documents.

Need your IT looked after too?

Alphabyte IT, our sister company, has looked after IT, security and support for businesses across South Wales since 2009.
