AI for law firms, from people who know legal IT
We help law firms automate the admin around legal work: client intake, ID and AML chasing, attendance notes, dictation and filing. Our founder has looked after law firms' IT since 2000, so client confidentiality comes first in everything we build.
Fee earners shouldn't be doing admin
Every hour a solicitor spends chasing ID documents, typing up notes or filing emails is an hour that isn't billed.
Most firms have case management software, but a surprising amount of work still happens around it: in inboxes, in Word, on paper. That's the work we automate.
Alphabyte IT, our sister company, runs the IT for law firms across South Wales, and our founder Ross Owen has specialised in legal and professional services IT since 2000. We know how firms work, what their regulators expect, and where client data can and can't go.
How we protect client data
- No consumer AI. Client information never goes into public chatbots.
- Business-grade AI under contract. We build with Anthropic's Claude through its business service. Your data isn't used to train its models, and it's covered by a data processing agreement.
- In-house AI, coming soon. For matters where data shouldn't leave the building, AI running on our own hardware in Cardiff.
- Lawyers stay in charge. The automation drafts and organises. A qualified person reviews anything that goes to a client or the court.
- Built inside your systems. We work in your Microsoft 365 and alongside your case management system.
The admin around the legal work
New matter intake
Enquiries read and logged, details gathered for your conflict check, the client record created, and the engagement letter drafted for review.
ID and AML chasing
Requests for ID and source-of-funds documents sent, reminders scheduled, and documents filed on the matter as they arrive.
Attendance notes
A recorded meeting or a quick dictation turned into an attendance note in your firm's format, ready to check and file.
Dictation to first draft
Dictated letters and file notes typed up and laid out on your templates, so secretarial time goes on the work that needs a person.
Key dates from documents
Leases and contracts read for parties, break dates, rent reviews and renewal deadlines, which go into a schedule with reminders.
Email filing and triage
Incoming emails matched to the right matter and filed, with anything urgent flagged to the fee earner.
Questions law firms ask us
Is it safe for a law firm to use AI with client data?
It can be, if it's set up properly. That means business-grade AI under a data processing agreement that doesn't train on your data, clear limits on what information goes where, and a qualified person reviewing the output. We set all of that out before anything is built, and in-house AI on our own hardware is coming soon for the most sensitive work.
Will it work with our case management system?
We build alongside it rather than replacing it. Many case management systems can share information with other systems, and where one can't, we often work through email, documents or Microsoft 365 instead. The free audit checks what yours can do.
Does AI replace fee earners or secretaries?
No. It takes the repetitive admin off them: the chasing, the typing up, the filing. Legal judgement stays with your lawyers, and everything client-facing is reviewed by a person.
